Makeup reviews?!

Since I work SO HARD at work I was flipping through this Marie Claire magazine and the whole thing was all ads for this and that. I noticed that there were a ton of makeup ads.. and a lot were for foundations.

Foundations are tricky little bastards. I’ve tried more than I’d like to have wasted my money on that’s for sure. Hmm.. let’s review shall we?

Bare Minerals: My first foundation ever! My mom is super organic-natural-light coverage-lady so her sister convinced her that this makeup was ok for me to wear. The coverage was surprisingly not bad for plain old loose powder. However, when I sweat (which I do.. a lot.) it made me soooo itchy! And I used a lot to cover up my blemishes which made me super dark and that’s not cute. So I moved on.

Mary Kay Mineral Loose Powder: WAAAY cheaper than Bare Minerals and the quality is mediocre at best. I had to use a concealer which was a pain in the ass. They come in a really big thing though so it lasted me a long time- even when I used it in excess on my face. Dark Face returns DUN DUN DUNNNN. I realized I had to stop picking my foundations in summertime because in winter I really looked fake and maskish.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation: I got this in the winter when I was practically a ghost. Anyway the coverage was really good. I didn’t have to use a concealer for blemishes unless it was a really bad one. We all get those little bastards on occasion. My skin has a “red tone” so my foundation was yellowish tint so I looked.. natural neutral! One of my problems with this though was that it rubbed off on everyone and everything that my face got close to. I had that cheap-slut-rub-off look on my jackets and on the shirts of everyone I hugged. Even with a finishing powder (which is supposed to “hold” foundation in a little better) it rubbed off. Ick. And it left my face looking really shiny.. which sucks because my face is already shiny on its own. THEN I found out that MAC has a TONNNN of CARCINOGENS in their products and I pretty much was like “Eff you MAC I’m not tryna die from makeup.” and moved on.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation: Now if I had thought that MAC’s full coverage was great… Laura Mercier had it in the bag. I flat out NEVER even bought concealer because the coverage was great! It was also fairly matte which is a big winner for me because I’ve got a shiny face. Ya know. But again, this foundation was worse when it came to the issue of rubbing off on everything my face touched. Worse than MAC. Damn  you pros and cons…

From there on out I lived off of samples. I wasn’t trying to waste my money buying something just because some other girl said it was great. Can’t trust no one nope. I tried another MAC product. Prolong to be exact. This one was cool because it lasted a really long time (my days are from 4am to whenever I sleep at night.. so I needed a long lasting foundation too) and didn’t really rub off on too much stuff. It required concealer though which was annoying to go back to after not having to use it for a while. And I remembered the carcinogen thing so I didn’t get around to buying it. Then I tried a couple different Lancome Foundations. I ended up getting Teint Idole Ultra Liquid. It’s coverage isn’t too bad but I do need a concealer. It also doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to but it doesn’t rub off on people as much as any other foundation has. After this little bottle is used up I’ll go on a search to find “the one” for me.

Ok I’m done now. I want to finish reading the damn magazine!
